Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much should I expect to pay for a Retractascreen?

This is the first question we’re asked and the hardest to answer on a website!  Including installation, it could be as little as $1,000 or as much as $10,000 for really huge doors. The price depends on size, style, colour, single/dual screen system, mesh choice and method of installation necessary.  Just as every client is an individual, every job is unique; all our screens are custom-made to ensure a precision-fit to your door or window configuration. To help you out, we’ve included some examples of actual jobs with price guides – just click on the relevant page. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, best give us a call – our Customer Support team will be more than happy to help you with your individual needs, and answer that all-important question: “How much is it?”

  • Are Retractascreens Child and Pet Friendly?

They certainly can be! Our Retractascreen Premium range offers two strong mesh options to withstand some seriously hard knocks! Plain mesh will withstand up to 120kg impact, whilst the super tough Pet Mesh has been rated up to a whopping 550kg.  So whether it’s a playful Labrador, toddler tantrum or forgetful teenager, we’re bound to be able to find a solution that suits your family.

  • Are Retractascreens easy to clean?

Care & Maintenance is quick and easy and recommended once a month over winter, but more frequently in the warmer months when your retractable fly screens are used more often. A quick brush and vacuum of the tracks will prevent the build up of dust and debris, and light lubrication will ensure your retractable screens run smoothly all year round. On installation of Retractascreens, our technician will demonstrate the maintenance procedure and leave you with your Care Manual and complimentary Maintenance Kit.

  • Where are Retractascreens made?

We’re proud to say, Right Here In Australia! We do admit to using some ‘imported ingredients’ such as small component parts (screws, clips and plastic mouldings) and the fibreglass flymesh, which comes from the USA.  The precision engineered aluminium extrusions for the housings, tracks and handlebars, and the durable internal mechanisms, powder coating and the actual manufacturing – well that’s “All Aussie”.  Keeps our lead-times short, and our screen-life long!

  • Can I install a Retractascreen myself?

We wouldn’t recommend it, and don’t offer “supply only” as an option.  There are many DIY products on the market but if you get it wrong it can be a very expensive mistake, leaving the big warranty question: “Was it improperly made or incorrectly installed?”  Our screens are backed by a 5 year workmanship warranty for a very good reason – we want them done properly so the only reason you come back to us is for more screens!
